The planet Dakham is an arid planet not unlike the Solar system's Mars. Its atmosphere is largely oxygen-based- a fact credited to the omnipresent red lichen that covers the planet's surface. Beneath this lichen is a rocky crust that has proven to be largely impenetrable by Terran technology. Water on Dakham is scarce, welling up from a deep water table in the form of geysers and springs. Most Yrrh'im hives are built on or near such sources of water. Ravines and canyons score the planet's surface- evidence, perhaps, that water once ran freely.
