The planet Reoun could easily be described as made for the Terran refugees. In most regards, the planet is similar to Terra herself- being the fourth planet in a system orbiting a hot yellow star, with a mild climate for two-thirds of its orbit. Reoun is orbited by two small, rocky moons, which create considerable tide flow. Indeed, it is strongly advised by the Colonial government that citizens avoid the oceans if possible, as the water is extremely turbulent most of the time.
The atmosphere is mostly hydrogen-based, but contains a greater concentration of oxygen than Terra's atmosphere did. The atmosphere is entirely free of pollutants- something that the Magistrate insists remains true- and the soil is incredibly fertile. Most native plant life is edible, and does not appear to compete with the relocated Terran crops for resources. The planet's wildlife seems to avoid the Terran settlements, and only a handful of carnivorous species have been documented to attack lone sentries or farmers (and these attacks are few and far between). It is speculated that the marine life is edible as well, though any efforts to catch any have been met with failure.
Geographically speaking, Reoun is broken into five major continents- three in the northern hemisphere and two in the southern. New Zion is located on the northwestern continent, not far from its western coast. A mountain range extends to the southwest, and appears to drop off into the ocean in the form of an expansive archipelago that reaches most of the way to the southern pole. The eastern half of the continent is semi-arid grassland, and is home to considerably more ferocious predators- including a species eerily similar to Terra's "preying mantis," albeit large enough to seize most other species- including Terrans- in their mandibles and eat them.
