As the administrator of this site, I think it's a good idea to lay down some ground rules to make sure things run smoothly around here. I hope no one will have any issue with these rules, but they're open to reasonable debate if you have questions or concerns.
1. No flame wars! Too often, I"ve seen good, solid forums ripped apart by inter-member conflicts. If you have an issue with someone, take it to the PM box, and please inform a staff member. We'll be more than happy to mediate and try to defuse the conflict. If you fail to abide by the no-flame policy, you will be warned verbally once. This warning will be fairly polite, and more inquisitive than demanding. If you do so again within a brief period, you will be warned verbally again. This will be a great deal less pleasant. If you act against this policy a third time, you will be banned for two weeks; a fourth time will result in a three-month ban. Fifth offense: You're permanently banned.
2. No spamming. No one enjoys a flood of pointless messages. The severity of your infraction determines how strict we will be with you.
3. Please try not to be a post-whore. Sometimes a brief post is just fine for the situation; others, it's just annoying. You don't have to post "+1" for every post you agree wtih. We can't enforce this too well, but you'll be verbally warned if the staff thinks you're trying to elevate your post count to ridiculous levels.
4. Leave your prejudices at the door, if you've got 'em. Anyone who makes an intentionally-derogatory comment about an ethnicity, gender, or religious doctrine will not be tolerated. This will result in a stern verbal warning for the first offense, a one-month ban for the second, and a perma-ban for the third. I'm not joking.
5. No excessive profanity out of an appropriate context, please. Once again, this can't easily be enforced, and it's largely a judgement call- but a member who's seen as being excessively vulgar and inappropriate will be warned verbally. If it's deemed too much over an extended period of time, you'll be banned for a yet-undetermined amount of time.
6. As the administrator of this site, I don't care how dark, gory, or explicit your posts get (actually, I really hope to be regarded as the Frank Miller of sci-fi with these novels)- but plesae don't post pictures of graphic violent or sexual content. Proboards won't like that And I'd like to keep my site. Also, if a thread you are in contains particularly graphic content of one nature or another, please modify the thread title to indicate such. Sticking "Explicit" or "NSFW" at the beginning will suffice just fine.
