The ruined city loomed darkly in the distance. "Let's hope nobody has gotten here before us." Naira told the leader of ZX-10 as she cast her gaze over the toppled sky-scrapers and crumbled streets. "Even if they have," Kom replied, "We have to make the best of it." Exhausted from the trek and weakened by the looming radiation waves from the sunless sky, the group of 6 picked their way over the barren wasteland to the promise of another abandoned city packed with resources. Climbing over a lifted sidewalk, Naira ran her fingers along the rough, cold stone of what was once somebody's home. It's so sad... She thought to herself. No matter how many towns and cities they visited, Nai could never get over the tragedy that had happened many years ago, even before she was born. Suddenly, as she pulled her hand away from the building, Naira felt the floor beneath her begin to shake. "What the fuck!" She cried as an ear-splitting rumble forced her down to the floor where she lay flat on the concrete on her stomach.

Rios walks alongside the others in the group. He had tagged along, after talking the others into letting him go. He had heard that there was a load of unfriendly locals that would love to have their hands, among other body parts, on some of the members of this group. The one that seemed to be the leader, Naira he believes her name is, she's the entier reason he came along. He's been here a few times before and everytime he saw what they were capable of, both in distruction of not only the body, but of the mind too. And Naira was quite cute, so he wasn't about to let her go without atleast one person, heavily armed and trained for killing, to follow as a sort of guard. Rios also knew that, before this job was done, he would have used his skills to save atleast one of the group members.
Walking along in the middle of the group, he keeps his eyes open, looking around through the holes in his mask. He was looking for any sign of movement, as his training taught him, and also keep his ears open for sounds that may be more then just the settling of the rubble. With his hands on the rifle, Rios continues to glance sideways at Nai. It wasn't often that he got to work with a girl and he planned on keeping this one alive.
As the earth began to shake, Rios braces himself, his legs spread apart, but with no other precautions. He had enough strength and weight to anchor himself where he stood.

The sounds of the earth shaking passed and Nai stood up, trembling with obvious fear. She looked over at the strange masked man, who stood sturdily and strongly - watching her intently. "Is everyone okay?" Kom shouted over the more bearable volume of the rubble settling. "N...not...particularly!" Nai called back shakily, her knees giving way, letting the ruined pavement break her fall. "Fuck!" She shouted, rubbing the bottom of her spine. "But don't worry too much, I'm sure I'll be alright. Just need to recover a little."
Naira rested her back against the wall of the abandoned house, monitoring her own breathing to ensure that she didn't hyperventilate. The air was thick and muggy, sending rivulets of sweat down her cheeks and her back. She let out a sigh and attempted to stand up again, this time managing to stay on her feet although her legs still hadn't stopped trembling and she needed to hold onto the wall to steady herself.
"See!" She called out, "I'm fine! Let's get moving!"

Letting go of the handle of his rifle, he reaches over and wraps his fingers around the woman's arm. 'Might want to grab a stick or something to keep you on your feet next time. Or, if your close enough, grab hold of my shoulder or something.' he says, let her arm go. Before she, or anyothers, had the chance to reply or shout something, he holds his free arm up, signaling silence. He thaught he had heard some hushed voices. Using his hand, he signals for everyone to get in close. 'All of you, get down and stay close to each other. Get behind a wall or something.' he says before grabbing the grip of his rifle and moves ahead a bit, looking around.Moving his left hand from the rifle grip, he pulls the combat shiv from the scheath on his shoulder. Moving forward slowly, he looks around, holding the rifle against his massive shoulder. Looking around, he moves off to the left of the street and crouches against the wall. He tilts his head forward and listens intently. He didn't hear anything for a bit so he stood up, looked around slowly before replacing the Shiv back into the scheath and returns to the group. 'Sorry, thaught i heard something. Just remember, hit the dirt and find cover first time you see any movment other then ours.'

Crouching down low behind a broken wall next to her team members, Naira drew in her breaths as slowly and steadily as she could. Her body was pressed up to two sturdily built men - Kom and Coal, but this did nothing to pacify her mind and slow her heart beat.
As Rios headed back over to the group, they all pulled out from behind the wall, relief plastered across their faces. Rios is definitely intense. Nai thought to herself, wishing that she had a weapon to hand.
Suddenly from the shadows of an abandoned warehouse near by, a loud cackle sounded across the broken street. Oh damnit! Mai thought to herself, instinctively running round behind Rios and placing him between herself and whatever had made the noise. As she peered around the man's shoulder, she saw two gleaming yellow eyes and a set of sharp fangs looming from the darkness. "Please let this be alright!" She muttered to herself as she heard the creature jump out from the warehouse doorway.
Her prayers were left unanswered as the creature pounced on Joss, a young blonde lad only about 19. "GET IT OFF HIM!" Nai screamed as it began to rip at the boy's throat with it's razor sharp claws. Joss was defenceless and had no means to fight back as the beast cackled into his panic stricken face.

As the sound, the crack, echos, Rios quickly moves forward, raising his rifle as Nai and a few of the others move behind him and behind walls. At first he didn't know what was going on and was quickly suprised at what it was that had, in fact, made the noise. It was rather short, but it was a violent looking thing with large teeth, curved and hooked in random ways, and a series of spikes on it's back, some longer then others. 'What in the hell?' he whispers as it jumps onto one of the younger ones. The apperance of the thing had stunned him, but Nai's shout snaped him from his trance and into this world again. Squeezing the trigger, Rios fires a short burst, just to knock the thing off before rios began to run, jump over the man, and then shoulder the...the beast. Letting his rifle hand on his chest, Rios brings one hand back and makes a fist before sending it into the thing's head.
Bringing one leg up, he kicks the thing's chest, grabs one of the wickedly clawed hands and pulls it out. With his other hand, open palmed, he thrust it into the outside of the elbow, crushing it. With a series of punches, Rios moves it farther away from the group before he delivers a quick, hard uppercut to the jaw, a loud snap echos off of the walls as the beast flys into the air and lands on the ground a few feet away, motionless.

As soon as she could trust that the beast was dead, Naira flew over to Joss and fell down beside him; Kom, Coal, Hydan and Asrath kneeling down with her. They all gazed down upon the angelic looking lad, blonde hair now matted with thick scarlet blood that ran in rivers down his cheeks and onto the ground.
Nai gasped as she cast a glance over the mauling of the boy's throat, gashes slashed right through it and spilling blood and tissue out over his chest. Not a single member of the group spoke as Nai burst into a flood of tears, running her hand across the forehead of Joss' corpse. Slipping into a strange trance, she let the tears slide down her face and into her mouth, the salty taste of despair on her own lips.
Finally Kom spoke. "We must leave him to rest." Asrath was already clawing through Joss' backpack and pulling out the lad's supplies.

Stepping up to the beast, Rios bends over it and pulls back as the thing twitches. 'dam' he whispers as he raises one booted foot and curb stomps the beast's skull.Turning around, he approaches the others and crouches over the body, uses two fingers to close the boy's eyes, then places the palm of his hand on his forehead. After a few moments, Rios grabs the boys arms and drags him out of the way and hides him behind a wall of rubble before joining the others. Holding his hand out, he offers Naira some atleast physical support.

Nai was glad of the support and as Coal came over to support her right side she felt a little more secure on her feet. Watching Rios drag Joss across the street and behind a wall like a doll had sent a fresh wave of tears to her eyes - but she knew that placing him out of sight was for the best. "He will be sorely missed." Coal said to Nai quietly, wiping a tear from her cheek. Piping up from a few metres infront, Kom called out to them. "I don't know about you guys, but I won't be sticking around to see if there are any more of those creatures."
Moving on, not a single member of ZX-10 looked back as they scaled the broken down cityscape. Somewhere in the mind of each of them, was the lingering query as to what made the ground tremble as it had an hour before.

Following/leading the group, Rios keeps his hands on his rifle. However instead of walking in a more relaxed way, he proceeds with his rifle brough up, his finger on the trigger. He hadn't heard anything aside from the normal sounds of the team and the tears from Naira. Unexpectedly, the earth began to shake, more violently then before and it even sent Rios sprawling, reaching over to a pile of rubble to prevent his falling.
After the earth stops shaking, sections of, and even entier buildings crumbling to the ground. Ahead of him, just feet away, a large section of the street cracks, crumbles, and falls into a large crater. Rios didn't like that. He didn't like a large crater appearing at all. If the earth there was so weak, then it must be getting ready to colapse beneath the group. He sure as hell was not about to let Nai fall to her death like that.
(It has come to my attention, about something i didn't know/remember. So from henceforth, i'll be using Nadia Shepard. Overall, theres not many differences in the reason why she came and stuff. So yeah...I'll fill you in on the next Post of mine better.)

Huge chunks of the city began to disappear before Nai's startled eyes. 'Startled' was actually a huge understantement. As a broken sky scraper tore down into the rubble before her, Nai let out a gasp of part awe and part disgust as clouds of cement dust and grit flew up into her eyes.
Bringing her arm up to sheild her face, Naira desperately tried to see how her team was through the haze. She could only see enough to make out the shadows of those nearest to her - Rios and Coal as far as she could see. What the hell is going on! She asked herself, but her mind could not give an answer as the crumbled pavement shook beneath her feet. "RIOS!" She cried out, feeling helpless.

Rios heard Nai call for him and, letting go of his rifle so it banged against his chest, he pushes himself to his feet and moves towards her swiftly, falling forward as he lost his footing. However he was swift enough to bring himself into a small ball form and roll thatway he didn't just smack into the ground. Poping to his feet, he takes the last few steps towards Nai and holds one hand towards her and spreads his feet, bracing himself against the earth's shaking.
As soon as her hand touched his, he wraped his fingers around her and pulls her towards him and puts one arm around her. The dust wasn't as much of a problem when it came to breathing, He had a small air filtration system implanted into his lungs years ago. Plus the mask had a small filter over the mouth and nose peice aswell. With his free hand, Rios grabs the chin of his mask and lifts it off of his head and holds it infront of her face. It wouldn't block everything, but it would help keep the dust out of her lungs atleast.

Naira was a little shocked to have a mask pushed in front of her face. She had always been a little claustrophobic and hated masks of all kinds, but this one helped her to breathe a little more clearly. She stood still for a moment as her mind got used to it and soon enough her puzzled thoughts had returned to the shaken up ruins of the abandoned city they were attempting to loot. Attempting and failing dramatically. She thought to herself as the ground shook hard and she clutched Rios' arm tighter. She could feel her knuckles going white with pressure as her fingertips dug into his flesh.

Ah, sorry, that was my fault. I know I should have explained this better, but in order to preserve consistency and continuity around here, I asked Bub to use a character that could exist on Terra, as Reoun and Terra are several light-years apart (and that would be one hell of a commute to and from work, don't ya think? ), as opposed to his main Hunters' Guild character, who's already up to his neck in trouble, hehe. Let's please not kill me? I'm still hammering out the bugs around here...

Rios puts one of his hands on the small of Nira's back and holds her against his side, the other hand holding the mask over her face, his feet spread to keep balance. After a few more moments of leg numbing shaking of the earth it finally shudders to a hault but Rios dosn't let Nira got for a few seconds after, If she was to ask why, he would blame it on either paranoia or that his limbs had locked up for a moment.
When he did, finally let her go, he pulled the mask from her face slowly and replaced it on his own head before looking around for the others.

Nai was grateful for the extra stability that Rios offered her and let him take the mask back once the dust had settled. "Where are the others?" Nai asked, more to hear her own spinning thoughts than to ask a direct question. She scanned the horizon, her feet half buried in the dust that had been created by the crumbled rock, brick and desert sands. The landscape had shifted rather dramatically, more buildings had collapsed beyond recognition and Nai let out an almost inaudible shriek as she realised that she could not see the remainder of her team mates.
Naira took a few steps forwards. "Coal!" She shouted. "Hydan! Kom! Asrath!"
Waiting a few moments, Nai could hear her heart beating in her ears as the silence surrounded the two figures on the outskirts of the abandoned city. There was no reply. "GUYS!" She screamed again. "WHERE ARE YOU?" There was nothing. Naira sank to her knees in the sand.
She took a moment or two to compose herself, a tear running down her cheek, and then she stood up slowly, turning away from Rios with her head in her hands. "They're gone!" She wept, wiping her cheeks with the back of her hand. "They're really gone!"

Rios bites his lip behind his mask as he looks around. He heard a very faint groaning, and just because he didn't like to see Nai upset, he headded towards where he believed the sound came from and begins to slowly move large slabs of buildings. After shifting three large slabs and several smaller rocks, he finds atleast one of the group members. 'My...My legs...' The person says, Rios didn't know any of the other members by name yet. Looking at the figure's legs, Rios noticed, although you would need to be blind to not see it, a large slab of rock crushing most of one leg, the other leg pined under a rod of iron protruding from the rock. Doing his best to not hurt the person, he lifts the rock and pushes it away before kneeling down beside the person.

Hearing Coal cry out, Nai strode over to where Rios was kneeling down. "Coal?" She asked, horrified at how gruesome his injuries looked. "I....I....I....can't...." Coal replied, lifting his head slightly and seeing the blood running from his calf. His face was as white as a sheet and his dark hair was plastered to his face in a mixture of sweat and dust. He rested his head back down on the floor and sighed. "I....can't feel my legs." "It's okay Coal." Naira told him, trying to instill confidence in his mind. "You're going to be okay."
Naira was in no way a doctor, and she turned to Rios, hoping that he would have a better idea of the outlook for Coal. "Is he going to be alright?" She asked, the question barely audible over Coal's cries.

Rios moves down a bit, closer to the man's legs and pulls out a Feild Kit, drawing a syringe(spel?) of a greenish grey liquid and removes the cover over the small neddle(Spel?) and presses the plunger a bit to make sure there was no air in it. Holding the man's less injured leg, he presses the syringe into it and presses on the plunger, waits a few seconds, then repeats on the other leg, emptying the dose into the leg. 'It's a High-end Painkiller.' he says, casting the tool away before grabbing cloth and two rather staight lengths of iron rods from buildings.
Using them as makeshift splints, he binds both legs together. 'The pain should fade rapidly in the next several seconds.' he says, grabbing the man's shoulder and pulls him into a sitting posture, tosses his arm around the man, the man's arm going around his neck, and then slowly stands up.
Pulling The Combat Pistol from it's holster, he reverses it so he was holding the barrle and holds the grip towards Nai. 'Ever use one before?' he asks.

"I...haven't yet..." Nai replied, a little shocked at the ease at which Rios had dosed Coal. He had known exactly where to inject and at what speed. "...But I'm sure I'll manage. Care to give me a short tutorial?" (OOC: Sorry it's so short - I'll try and make a longer post next time round) [/center]
